Atheism Ads Ask the District "Why Believe in God?"
So, a new ad campaign launched in DC. It's a ~$40,000 campaign asking people to "be good for goodness sake," asking why they should believe in god, and portraying a black woman in a Santa suit. Some people seem to have been upset by the campaign.
In other words, some atheists just launched an ad to hit every single one of the buttons in the hard-core bible belt: atheism, woman doing things, and black people. Expect to see more about this ad in TV specials named "The War Against Christmas."
Perhaps the best quote on the subject thus far is: "For many Christian groups, the campaign signifies that the cultural war to divorce Christ from Christmas is intensifying."
Jee, thanks Christian Post, because there are totally no other winter holidays that are held by other religions around this time.
So, I'm going to attack the first problem here head on, if you are an atheist and you celebrate Christmas, you have more issues than a billboard is going to solve.
The last problem is: Really?! Really?! You are really going to have issues with a few ads on the busses and trains when there are at least three whole channels devoted to Evangelism? I mean, as a Jew, I don't really get the whole advertising your faith (or lack of it) thing to begin with. But come on, if I can deal with the innumerable ads for who knows how many churches plastered all over TV, public transport, the walls, and Facebook, you can take a few ads by atheists. If they want to blow their money on something that, as far as I can tell, is completely useless, then more power to them.
Frankly, if you have an issue with atheism, these ads are the best thing for you, it takes money out of Dawkins' travel budget. That's not a bad thing, these days even I'm starting to find him a bit annoying.
Anyway, that's my sardonic take on it. What do you think?

debate about God's existence. Some say the question 'Is God real?' is
the most important one for human beings. I think arguing whether
someone created the universe at the beginning or not is beyond our
compression. Discussing about that is wasting our valuable time. There
is more important question "Will God really save us?"
According to recent science developments such as Darwin theory and Big
bang theory, we know the formation of universe and earth and origin of
human beings. Bible says that the reason of why God permitted
unhappiness and sufferings is to prove God's sovereignty is righteous
and no creatures can enjoy independent of God's sovereignty because
the rebellion of Adam and Eve in Eden has put His sovereignty at
issue. But if Adam and Eve never really exist according to science and
if we don't have any inherited sin (since Eve never eat the fruit),
what is the reason of all of our sufferings? Might the reason be the
Jehovah is not the 'God of love' as what Bible says? Maybe he really
does not care for humankind!!
This is the more critical problem. I mean that is more serious than
the paradox of God's existence. World theological specialists should
focus on that issue carefully. Some may say we do not accept evolution
theory. But even if evolution theory is absolutely wrong, there are
many signs that show very different from Genesis. We have found many
human fossils all over the world that existed at least 100,000 years.
Every honest historian will accept that there are many tribes existed
early than BC 4026. Those means the couple who lived in Turkey 6000
years ago is the mystic story.
It is very obvious that more than 3 billion people will be punished.
That's the strong evidence that God does not care for human. He is not
the God of love because he can save easily these more than three
billion. He does not need to come down, only he'd better send his
angles to the world. If an angle or two could be interviewed by CNN or
Fox, all human will believe that God is real. Why? Why they always
afraid to appear in front of a crowd. No one doubt about the God's
sovereign is right or wrong. People only question that God is real or
not. Who wants to rebel someone who can kill, punish and can do
everything? God is trying to prove a fact that no one argues or
doubts. Some may say we should not ask God how to do and we cannot
know what God is thinking. But he is the indirect killer of billions
people by hiding. Consider a kind of creator. He created human beings
and hide [for no reason] and if someone do not believe in hidden
person, He punish. How terrible.
The more I read the Bible the more doubtful I am. For example, I don't
know why Satan has not been removed yet. As God destroyed the wicked
world by a flood in Noah's time, He is able to remove Satan and all
demons that are really wicked. Aren't they? The most horrible words I
ever heard in my life is what one of the scholars said that if God is
real, He will be very different from any theological professors and
philosophers can imagine. If so, I mean if God is different from Bible
teachings, our futures and hopes are very uncertain!! What will be the
guarantee for us?
